San Lucas Cerveza

Brewed in El Salvador, it pours med. gold with a thin white head. Aroma is clean and crisp. Taste very mild with light malts and extremely mild hops. Little aroma and a very clean finish, maybe a little too light. This bad boy is one you could pour many of on a hot summer day. This is a guess right now as it’s 30 degrees with a 20 mph north wind right now. May have to recheck in the heat of the summer. Well worth a 6 pack. Could give Red Stripe a run for it’s money. I’ve found most of the south of the border beers other than ambers to be quite mild but extremely refreshing.

San Lucas Cerveza Rating: 4 out of 10 (?)

I found this beer to be quite refreshing on that hot summer day spoken of above.
@8.99 a 12 Pack, it has hints of Corona- but thinner, “waterier”-and you can’t go wrong.
    10/10 on drinkability.
Opposed to a malt liquor, which messes you up after 1- this beer won’t get you there till #4-5.
A good social/party beer, as you can drink several,..very quickly, or slowly.
    Tasty cheap beer.
    Price/Drinkabilty/Quality:
    8/10

I discovered this as a ‘Sale Beer’ @ a local supermarket chain. Better than Corona and goes well with any meal.
I am a Porter and ale drinker by heart. This one is extremely nice when very cold. Drink right from the bottle.
Even when it goes back to full retail @ $14.99 a 12 pak you can’t go wrong.
By the way – I have dubbed it Holy Beer as the names San Lucas and El Salvador have the meanings of Holy Saint and Savior.
You don’t have to be e believer to drink it but I reccomend it =D

Literally the BEST bang for the buck “south of the border” beer available, and you can pick it up at major grocery stores (Albertson’s in Southern California). ~$5/6pack

I am amazed, and pleased, that none of the major brewers have killed off San Lucas and that it gets shelf space in the cooler! Apparently others must feel the same because its been sold out on occasion. Stock boy told me that its purchased through liquor/wine order instead of beer. GOOD!

Excellent thirst quencher that drinks smoooooth when chilled low. Deserves a few minutes in the ice tray before popping the cap and finishing up the yard work! Bottom line, better than Corona, no lime needed.

    Flavor 9/10
    Aroma 4/10

This beer is very smooth and enjoyable. Smooth and enjoyable are adjectives that are sort of lame to use, however its the truth.
San Lucas is a simple beer with no bight at all. This is a poundabel beer with now distorted after effect for a seasoned beer consumer. Red Stripe is terrible compared to this beer. San Lucas is my favorite hot weather beerof all time. Please try its a quencher.

WHAT A GREAT BEER!! DO YOU LEAVE IT ON THE LEES? THE YEAST IS SOOO CLEAN!! IT IS MILD, YET GIVES A NICE BUZZ, AND YOU CAN STILL THINK!! I LOVE THIS AND MAY HAVE TO MOVE TO EL SALVADOR FOR THE BEAUTIFUL ,HEALTHY, CLEAN EFFORT IN THIS BEER! GOD LOVE YA!!- KATHLEEN

  6. Great review site, folks and nice to see the favorable San Lucas reviews here. Agreed – saw this fine drinking stuff at Albertson’s this week and hit like a Black Marlin when I saw that $4.99 price. Which brings me to another attraction nobody’s mentioned – gotta say, their bottle label is one of the cleanest most classic designs I’ve ever seen – I want to drink their beer, wear their shirt, and drive their truck. If this wasn’t Zane Grey’s favorite Central American sudz then it should’ve been.
